Character Design- Character design bible tests

Image
I've spent a couple hours drawing up and laying out some kind of design for my character design bible. I want it to look as if it would belong in the setting, so it's meant to be some kind of old tome but one that gets used a lot by my character. Because of this, I'm trying to add some bit to make it look like he's been in there. I think I can go a bit further and add in bits of scrap paper with things on, like text or other images.

Collaboration- Reflective statement

Image
The collaboration project was described from day one as being one of the hardest. After doing it, I can say that this is an accurate statement. There were many problems with my group, the biggest being we did not know each other. In first year everyone talked and mad friends with each other, however Filipe seemed to be good friends with Francis, who unfortunately did not come back to join us in year 2, and I didn't really get a chance to talk with him that much, and Divine didn't really talk to anybody aside from the occasional question about the work. That being said, I got the feeling that the pair of them wanted to work hard and do their fair share. I had heard that the two had to retake Fantastic Voyage and did pretty well with their animations, so I was pretty confident in their choice to do the modelling and animating. However, I began to get concerned regarding the amount of progress being made and made the decision to being them into a meeting with Alan and Phil

Story Writing Lesson

Death of the Author- Star Wars franchise

What changes were made to Star Wars(77), Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi in 1997 and beyond? - Han Shot first: In the original, Han shot Greedo first, in the 1997 re-release Greedo shoots first and misses, in 2004 it was changed again so they both shoot - Jabba the Hutt was added into A New Hope, the shot was filmed for the '77 film but the stop motion version of Jabba could not be used due to time restrictions and was replaced with CGI for the '97 release - When Darth Vader picks up The Emperor he shouts No twice, in the original he just picks up and throws him. - Adding Prequel Anakin's ghost in the final scenes of Return of the Jedi  What developments allowed the films to be changed? The main developments were CGI and computers. This allowed Lucas to add things that he could not do originally (such as Jabba the Hutt in A New Hope). Also the films were starting to make their way to homes where people could re watch them as many times as they liked, allow

Quality and Storytelling- B Movies- Forbidden Planet

Image
http://curnblog.com/2016/08/29/60th-anniversary-forbidden-planet-star-trek/ In terms of budget, Forbidden Planet had a budget of $1,968,000 which is roughly $20,600,000 in 2018 money. A good portion of that budget was spent on Robbie the Robot, according to Moviediva.com "MGM spared no expense in this elegant and unusual science fiction film, quite a departure from the studio's usual fare" [1] And Wikipedia states that "At a cost of roughly $125,000, Robby the Robot was very expensive for a film prop at this time - it represented almost 7% of the film's $1.9 million budget and equates to at least $1 million in 2017" [2] This is quite uncharacteristic of B movies as their main goal was to make money and the problem with having a bigger budget is the potential to not make that money back when the film is shown. In a trailer for the film, it states that the movie will be "The most provocative and unusual adventure film you've ever seen"

Collab- Raw Animation- Boxing Scenes

Image
This is one of many scenes I have been animating for the Collaboration Project. I think it came out well, however there were a couple things that I don't think look right. But, I have learned quite a lot from doing this and I did enjoy myself (especially on the Ring scene)

Non-Linear Storytelling- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Image
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Sunshine_of_the_Spotless_Mind#/media/File:Eternal_Sunshine_of_the_Spotless_Mind.png This film essentially starts at the end of the story. The chronology of events within this story is as followed: - Joel and Clem break up after dating for 2 years - Clem undergoes a process to remove her memories of Joel - Joel finds out and decides to go through the process himself - His memories of Clem are slowly erased, falling in love with her again - Joel wakes up and gets on a train to Montauk at the last minute and on a whim (Clem as does this off screen) - The two meet and spend the day together and hit it off - They return home and find that they have been mailed tapes of themselves talking about the relationship and memories they had erased - Clem tries to leave, saying their relationship will go the same way, but Joel wants them to try again https://medium.com/applaudience/top-eternal-sunshine-of-the-spotless-mind-2004-top-10-
