Premise- Another Project Idea

Following on from my ideas around what the future of customer service might be, and a recent activity in one of Phil's lessons, I had the idea of a service robot that has some kind of AI system so that it could improve how it acts in a specific place, for instance a shop. There would be some kind of malfunction or glitch that causes it to become self aware. It starts to modify its self, using things from around the store, so that it can be more helpful to people. One modification idea I had was that it would use pieces of a children's 'speak and spell' toy or a radio in order to give its self the ability to speak. These modifications wouldn't be just stuck to the character, but at the same time they wouldn't be completely internal. Perhaps the speech modification is attached to the character to look like some kind of mouth.

I also thought that it would be interesting if the character started to wear clothes, or express some willingness to try putting some on. In a way this relates to the idea in the Bible that when Adam and Eve become self aware they realise that they are naked and cover themselves up.

I also had the idea that since the character is a robot, it would have a serial number or some kind of identification mark on it. I thought it would be interesting that as the character modifies its self the serial number or identification slowly disappears, showing that its slowly gaining its own identity and isn't 'just a robot' anymore.

I think a lot of my inspiration for this would come from movies like Wall-E, since the main character is this mass produced robot but gains its own personality.
