Premise Update- Sudden shift!

After a talk with Alan, the idea of the main alchemist being a child or the apprentice to a much older and wiser alchemist was put forward. The way this would work would be that the alchemist is left to do homework or a set task while the older alchemist is out delivering things, collecting ingredients or something of that sort. However the younger alchemist instead reads the first few pages of the book or only half of the message left for him, gets bored or impatient and goes straight to doing something without reading the book fully, missing out ingredients or just rushing to do something so he can do something more fun than homework. Because of this, the alchemical creation goes wrong and the young alchemist needs to fix the problem before their mentor gets back.

The way I can see these episodes going is the young alchemist is left to do their homework or work on somethings simple while the mentor is out. They get bored after reading the first page and immediately skip to the recipe section and jump straight into making it without reading the warnings (I'm thinking the warnings are on another page in a similar way to how it is in Doctor Strange). Then they have a short amount of time to sort everything out before the mentor gets home, either hide the thing they created, get rid of it or just clean up. When the mentor gets home, if the problem is not sorted they could have some need for the thing created, for example if a dragon was made the mentor could come up with some use for it (perhaps guarding a giant vault of the King's gold?). The mentor also punishes the alchemist, making them read the book containing the recipe properly, or taking something away from them (perhaps an alchemical smartphone? which would also be a great merchandise thing).

One episode idea we came up with would be where the young alchemist clones himself in order for the clone to do his homework, only for the clone to do the same and making another clone to do the homework instead. This cycle would repeat until the room was full of alchemists not doing any work. Eventually the original one realizes the mentor is coming back and has to get rid of the clones. I will need some kind of kid friendly way of doing this, perhaps the clones are made of clay and they can be turned back into clay?
