Hi Ollie - You shoud use three point lighting for a model in Maya (particularly one in space). At the moment (I am guessing) you only have a skydome light (thats a mid light) which is acting as a diffuser. There are no shadows as a result. You should have a 'Key light' (eg the Sun), a Mid/fill light (the sky), and a rim light (highlighting of the model from behind). In this case....a direction light for the key (the sun), a skydome for the mid/fill (the sky), and a directional light from behind as the rim/highlight.

ReplyDeleteYeah I know, I only had the skydome light in there to quickly light up the scene for a couple good renders
