While I was half way through drawing out the environment for my scene, a medieval lab, I was able to have a chat with Justin. He saw the giant machine that dominates the scene and said that I should design it as if it was it's own character, using the same ideas I designed my character with. He also said it would look great if it was bent over slightly, as if it was top heavy or as if it was designed by an absent minded individual. I am very happy with the way this came out, although I think I overdid it with the riveted metal. The main idea behind this machine is that its an all in one smelter. Ore goes in at the top and it spits out metal bars in the quenching tank at the bottom. I thought I'd add a bit of magic into my story, in the centre of the machine is an ever burning fuel source. Dr Evil reveals the fact he has returned to Austin and blows up Fembot Vanessa. At first he is distraught but he soon realises that he is free to go back to his former ways with women. While I get together all the character design work to be uploaded onto my blog, I wanted to show off this character that I have designed for the Character design project. My instructions were to create an alchemist, that's absent-minded, is in the process of making gold in a medieval lab and in the style of 80's and 90's video games. At first my drawings were of elderly, balding scientists with big heads, until I started having a real look at the types of clothes medieval artisans wore. I found a lot of robes and such, as well as some images of people with hoods on as well. I really liked the look of the hoods and decided to put them into my drawings, and it worked out well as I started bringing out the hair from the hood which gave me good looking silhouettes and made the character look much more interesting.  After talking with Justin, he suggested that the character should have big hands and feet so they look like a video game character, and that I should look at g...

Mad Max Fury Road is not a complex film. The main plot is a group of characters go somewhere, are unable to find what they are looking for and return to the exact same place they left. However, the film is littered with exploitation cinema themes. Traditionally they are: Sex, Violence and Romance. Arguably, Mad Max Fury Road had all three of these. Throughout the film, the audience are shown multiple scenes of violence which take the form of car chases with guns and explosions. The violence is also quite over the top, at one point a couple of what appear to be War Boys are seen holding onto long rods attached to cars and proceed to rock them back and fourth throwing explosives at the main characters. And of course who could forget the man with the flamethrower guitar?  Sex and Romance are also shown, although not as much as violence. The original From now on, whenever I do some lifedrawing I will take one or two pieces that I like into Photoshop and play around with them, especially if the coloured lights are used. I feel my strongest work happens when the coloured lights are brought out and used.
